lyrical abstraction
always in dialogue with reality
Piotr Staskiewicz in his art studio, Villiers sur Orge - 2021.
From the age of 15, he attended the Lyceum of Fine Arts, graduating from the National School of Fine Arts in Gdansk in 1981.
He worked relentlessly on techniques and styles to arrive at what became his signature - lyrical abstraction, always in dialogue with reality.
After graduating, he joined the Faculty of Visual Arts at Nicolas Copernicus University in Torun as an assistant professor in a painting studio. He was immediately moved by the pedagogical aspect of his experience with students.
The state of emergency on December 13, 1981, in reaction to the Solidarnosc movement, put a brutal brake on his plans.
In October 1982, Pierre Staskiewicz decided to move to Paris, leaving behind the beginning of his academic and artistic career in Poland.
In France, from 1982 to 1984, he studied at the ENSBA in Paris in the studio of Professor Vincent Guignebert.
